Under Consideration Feature Request: Update Firmware to Support IKEv2 and WireGuard for VPN server.
Hello,
I wanted to submit a feature request to have the developers add IKEv2, SSL, and WireGuard protocols to the VPN Server with a new firmware upgrade. Is this the best way to request this feature? AT&T tends to throttle any VPN traffic that I have noticed. The only way I can use VPN with reliable speeds is by using a VPN to communicate over 443 to mask/obsufucate the traffic. OpenVPN and even IKEv2 have slowdowns. I have tried many VPN service providers but they all do not give me gigabit speeds. They make my connection go from 940/940mbps to 10/10mbps. The current VPN server for TP-Link allows for encryption but not anonymous.
Thank you,

Thanks Kevin will do. Do you have any workarounds to use for VPNs? Do you know how to make our PC route through the router but to the VPN server first to encrypt the traffic? My pc is directly connected to the router. I also tried using other providers like ExpressVPN and NordVPN as well as the smaller ones and no one can provide gigabit speeds.

Hello @Kevin_Z ,
are there news about this topic? It would be great to have the possibility to use IKEv2 for surfshark.
I just bought a tp-link router and i LOVE it!!! So great that is has so many features.
Cheers

What do you think about it?

I hope they can consider compatibility for WireGuard and IKEv2, for both Private Internet Access, Surfshark, and other popular VPN providers.

I'd also add that most of the consumer routers are simply not powerful enough to maintain any decent network speed with OpenVPN and the CPU load of Wireguard is substantially lower so as a side effect the speed over VPN should at the very least double. On my Archer A7 the CPU hits 100% at just 900kB/s and almost kills traffic from inside the network. With 2 clients over VPN it's nearly unusable for actual work.

that could be because your archer a7 is not powerful enough. My AX6000 barely can handle it.

Please add this feature soon. It is becoming more important to take control of privacy and with mega speed internet at many more SOHO businesses from home this is no longer the domain of commercial routers.
Open VPN is far too resource heavy for these processors.
