WPA security
Is it possible to disable WPA and only use WPA2 security? Or only use AES encryption?

Hi, sorry to tell you that there is no way to fix it to WPA2 or AES only. You can try to do that on the client devices if they support.
Besides, cause the Deco supports mixed WPA/WPA2-AES/TKIP; for the clients which support both of them, mostly they will negotiate to the WPA2/AES automatically, which is more secured.
May it help.

Hello,
This feature to fix the security type on the Deco unit is not available currently, and this will be forwarded as a feature request to our developers for consideration with the highest priority.
Thank you.

@TP-Link_Deco I appreciate this comment but I need more confirmation than it being forwarded.
I just invested in your deco m4 units that I need to decide on in the next 2 weeks.
I do like TP-Link products, but the fact that I cannot connect my iOS or other devices to it with higher security when other mesh networks have this as default is really a major issue for me. Had I known there was no way to choose security beyond Tkip, I would never have purchased them in the first place and simply stick with my Orbi system.
The deco were appealing due to the LAN ports, but security over all.
can you please let us know definitively when this will be possible otherwise I will need to ship my devices back and start over. Again.
this is very frustrating.

The Deco M4 needs an option to select WPA2 AES only for security.
The last firmware doesnt has this feature yet!! (1.4.0 Build 20200628 Rel 48846)

Hello,
May I know what kind of iOS device that cannot connect to the Deco Wi-Fi network? If you just worry about that security, you can create a complicated wifi password for the Deco and ensure that the firmware is up to date.
At the current stage, however, we cannot provide an exact ETA to our customers as the developers need to evaluate the feasibility to add new features and do round and round tests to ensure its performance.
Sorry about that.

Hello, thanks asking.
Currently, as you know, this feature to fix the security type is not available and we do receive some similar feedback. We have forwarded it to the related department and they can work on it.
At the current stage, however, we cannot provide an exact ETA to our customers as the developers need to evaluate the feasibility to add new features and do round and round tests to ensure its performance.
Hope you could understand and be more patient with the firmware updates in the near future.
Thanks.

@DGT Exactly! This is 5 year ago security, what in the world were they thinking? iOS 14 is constantly telling me to change security, this is not good!!

Here too!
WPA2 TKIP is shown as security issue on iOS 14. TP Link has to fix this issue soon and offer AES or WPA3 security.
Any feedback so far from the responsible department?
