Hi Everyone

Just purchased the archer MR200 in South Africa. Inserted a Vodacom LTE simcard and it worked perfectly as per the box states. The only problem i am facing is that the Simcard broadband connection keeps dropping every 1-2 hours if not in use. If the router is sending packets then there are no issues at all, its when the router is idle it disconnects 4g and does not reconnect when required. I have downloaded the system log files and can see where it disconnects, but the debug log is not giving me the information that will help me make and informed decision on which setting is causing this or if there is a hardware problem.

To my knowledge this is not how the router or any router should work. I have setup a profile for the simcard on the router and still not working as expected, check the the carrier / mobile cellular network provider and all my settings are as they should be.

@ProjectQuad

What is the hardware and firmware version of the MR200? Please check the country version together, which is printed on the back panel of the actual device.

You have created the network connection profile with the APN info but still the same, right?

With sim card plugged into the smart phone directly, does it work properly?

When and where did you buy this router?

Thanks in advance, and have a nice day.

@Kevin_Z  Thank you for the swift response, much appreciated.

The country Version is EU "Model Archer MR200(EU) Ver4.0 and i assume the version is 4.0.

1. I have created the network profile as per my carriers settings, it works but still disconnects randomly.

2. I have tried the simcard in a mobile device and another portable battery powered 4g router and both devices work fine without dropping, its specifically the TP link Archer MR200 thats giving me issues.

3. I bought this router 4 days ago from Takealot.com

Your advice is greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

@ProjectQuad

We have developed a debug tool to locate the issue. Please follow the steps below to get the debug log and System Log for further analysis:

1. Below is the download link:
http://support.tp-link.com/f/88e1be2c74/?dl=1

Here are the instructions for your reference to upgrade the firmware. Please check the Local Upgrade part.
https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/1667/

2. Once the router has the new firmware, please run the 'TP-LINK LTE Log Tool.exe', select the mode as 'net monitor' and start it.

3. Just keep the router and the Tool run until the internet drops on your router, save the debug log into a new folder. The log directory will be opened when the tool is stopped. And, please go to Advanced-System Tools-System Log page, save the system log and save it in the above new folder. Please note that we need both the debug log and the system log.

4. Please run the Tool again, select the mode as ' dial once' and start it. Check and tell us the internet status once the tool stops. Then save the debug log and system log into another folder and send to us.

Note:We need both the debug log and the system log.

Thanks for your support in advance, and have a nice day.

@Kevin_Z

I am getting similar symptomps as @ProjectQuad
I do not see any disconnects in the system log, however a few times a day I need to reboot the device in order for the 4G modem to connect to the network. Unfortunately the links you provided previously are no longer valid. Would you be able to update them? Or maybe you have already resolved the issue?

@Kevin_Z

Hello Kevin,

Is there a firmware available to fix this problem, please?

Or is TP-Link still in debug / troubleshooting mode?

I have an MR200 and it is not working.  Past return date.  Would TP-Link swap it for free for the MR600 that you guys have developped a firmware to address the same problem for?  (they are about same price on Amazon).

What is TP-Link doing to actually fix this huge problem?  MR200 is useless to me.

Thanks,

@Dusan @Kevin_Z

I'm failry new to TP-Link products and I bought the router a year ago (someone recommended it) and I swapped my Mikrotek (whih worked perfect and stable). Because of the Lockdown, i had to take my Mikrotek LTE route to my parents and i unboxed the TP-Link MR200 and setting it up was quiete easy (Nice UI as well). I am now sitting with the problem that 1). the wifi network (2.4GHz.. i had to disable the 5GHz because of this problem resoning that maybe it can't handle both networks running) keeps on dropping and my devices can't find it and the ifx is to disable an re-enable wifi 2). Keeps on loosing internet connection to my carrier and i have to constantly reboot the router.

I've checked the firmware and it says it's the latest.

Firmware version: 1.3.0 0.9.1 v004a.0 Build 180117 Rel.47657n
Hardware Version: Archer MR200 v2 00000001

Can you please assist, this is seriously impacting on my work and the many video meetings I have. The whole family is not happy with this new router (a.k.a me)  :(

Regards

Prince

@Karlouse

In my case - Loosing Wifi , helped to set it up from Auto to higest (12?) Chanel in 2.4 , I disabled 5Ghz mode.
I thought there were problem with this. Since wifi stayed "ON"  my PC still had problem with it and randomly kept disconnecting. So try this.

But I have not solved problem with Boardband disconnecting. Suggestion from TPlink (CZ) to this problem was to buy new device . ( Probably with another bug if they are not able to fix such a bug in too old device lol fools )
