Hi Mike, what is the device connected to the LAN 1 port? Try other suggestions, such as changing with a different/new cat 5e/6 cable, or testing with another wired device to check if it can negotiate at 1000Mbps automatically, try other LAN ports.

Hi @Kevin_Z In my previous post, the 1000Mbps is the incoming signal from the router.  The 100 Mbps is the outgoing to a Dell PC.  Any device that connects to the Archer A6 (wireless or wired) is throttled down to 100Mbps.  On the wired computer side, it sees it as 1.0 Gbps.  I have tried 3 Cat5e/6 cables with the same result.  Also, I have taken the Archer A6 offline and put a Ethernet connector between the two cables and I get 1Gbps speeds for over a week.  By switching LAN ports, I resume the 1Gbps for a few hours, and then it reverts to 100Mbps.

When I restarted the Archer A6, I was able to get 1Gbps through it for about 1 day, then it slowed everything down to 100Mbs.

Thank you for your help.

Mike

@Kevin_Z

Will this work for Archer A7 model? I have the same issue. ISP speed is 500 but WiFi is being capped at close to 100. I am using the equipment in router mode. QoS is disabled.

Thanks

@Kevin_Z I put a Gigabit switch to route to my wired PC connection instead of going through the Archer A6.

OLD

MODEM (wifi) -> Archer A6 (wifI) -> Hardwire PC

NEW

MODEM (wifi) -> Gigabit Switch -> Archer A6 (wifI)

                                                    -> Hardwire PC

Ever since I isolated the Archer A6 to just be a wifi extender, the speeds have been maintained as expected.  Not an ideal solution, but the spare switch came in handy.

Thank you very much for sharing this valued solution, it's glad to know this fix the speed issue you were experiencing. This is not an ideal solution as you said for others maybe, while it's hard to say why the router cannot negotiate at the gigabit speed with the computer, we will keep investigating this issue.
