I'm a first time TP-Link Mesh Router customer (I've used some of their other Routers and products as well) and I stumbled onto this forum looking to find out if the new XE75 Deco Mesh kit I just bought supported secure DNS.

I am highly network technology savvy and I've setup countless routers for clients over decades as well as dozens of my own that I've administrated and customized for my home network.

I am baffled that a company making router products in the year 2024 would not provide secure DNS as an included option.  I totally understand that the average unsavvy home network user probably isn't looking for or demanding this option, but there are many knowledgeable IT guys such as myself who know to look for it and how to use it, and I think it's inexcusable for TP-Link not to provide it.

This has led to me question my purchase of the Deco kit and I now have to consider looking at alternative options for personal use and what I recommend to friends, family, and clients.

I'll likely solve this for myself by setting up a local DNS server that can make the requests securely on behalf of the router, but I shouldn't have to do that and my clients and loved ones definitely aren't going to know how to do that, nor should they have to.  I'm thoroughly disappointed!

@Kevin_Z I bought two Archer BE550 (non pro versions) to replace my old ASUS AiMesh system at home. They work ok, but I did not expect that DoT/DoH are not supported there. That's a shame. My old device from ASUS supports that feature. Really hope you'll release that feature for BE550.

I want freedom of choosing a custom DOH instead of 3 preset one.

It would be nice if DOH/DOT support was also added to AX72 Pro

I returned my Deco mesh kit before my return window was up and replaced it with an ASUS XT9 mesh kit and I am so glad I did — I absolutely love the overwhelming robust amount of features (including DNS over TLS).

Aside from TP-Link not caring about their customers and offering lackluster support for features, they’re about to get banned in the USA — so glad I didn’t commit to keeping the Deco.

For those who don’t have the convenience of being able to return your TP-Link equipment and are waiting a year or more for features to be released that should have been included to begin with — I ask you, why are you tolerating this?
