Model: Archer C5400X
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

Hi, I would like to know how I could control the upload/download bandwidth by IP range because the router is not prioritizing my PC. I'm getting lag and I need to restrict the bandwidth of the other devices. I changed my Archer C7 AC1750 for this one but now I'm having issues when I'm playing.

Hi,

The Archer C5400X does not support bandwidth control yet, in other word, we cannot limit the download/upload speed of some specific device.

While as you know, it supports QoS. Below is the instruction:

https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/1708/

First, you can add your PC into device priority list and you can make streaming at low priority by customizing the application priority.

May it help and have a nice day.

You could put your game machine on the 5 ghz SSID and your other devices on the 2.4 ghz SSID as 5 ghz is faster.

Hi ArcherC8, I already did it but when someone is watching a video my connection becomes very slow and I have to block it.

Thanks for the clarification. I have a suggestion for the development team, the firmware updates should be released regularly to include new features (anti-buffer bloat, improve the traffic monitor, bandwidth control by ip range or device, avoid to reboot when a setting is changed) at least for this router categorized as "gaming router".

Hello @Kevin_Z  ,

I've also been waiting for Bandwitdth control feature for C5400x and it seems up until now this has not been addressed.

I hope R&D team still consider this feature to integrate into C5400x with your help.

This will be much appreciated for our entire life as TPLink users.

@wsaca Given the upcoming data caps from Comcast, I absolutely need the ability to throttle the bandwidth to connected devices on my network or I'm going to just have to institute schedules which will royally upset the teens in the house.  Please make this a priority.

@Kevin_Z year 2018 till year 2021, yet the firmware for bandwitdh management control still not been develop. TP link should state in box about  no specific bandtwith management control. like other users said, cheap routers have this function but high end router do not have this function, that is be a jokeor is it TP link company  slogan ? " buy low end rangeTP link router   is better then high end range tp link router!"
