INTERNET connectivity/SSID issue
I have the following problems\issues and would be grateful for any assistance.
Specifics
Issue 1 - Device fails to connect to router when in wired mode (Laptop wireless adapter deliberately turned off as wired connection)
1) A router is connected to the ISP using a microfilter.
2) One port on the router is connected to an adapter (model TL-PA4010) and plugged into the electrical mains.
3) A laptop 20 yards away on the same floor and corridor has an ethernet cable connected to a similar adapter (TL-PA4010) plugged in to the elctrical mains.
4) The laptop network manager says the machine is joined to the network (using Local Area Connection) but has no internet connection.
Issue 2 - Device connects to internet in wireless mode but SSID is shown as that given on the rear of the adapter
1) Laptop wireless adapter enabled.
2) One port on the router is connected to an adapter (model TL-PA4010) and plugged into the electrical mains.
3) Adapter (model TL-WPA4220) located 3M away from the laptop produces an excellent signal
4) Network management software on the laptop shows two networks available, the existing home network (19XX) and an unidentified network (TP-LINK_952E18).
5) Connecting to the network (TP-LINK_952E18) requires the code on the rear of the laptop.
Questions:-
Issue 1
a) Why does the laptop fail to operate in wired mode?
Issue 2
a) Why is the network information broadcast by the adapter not that of the home network (19XX) when it has been linked to the router using the WPS facility, which obviously works otherwise it would fail to connect to the internet?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
HMN
