Hello,

In the list of DHCP clients, I have few unknowns. I want to be able to rename them so they are easy to recognize.

Is there any way to do that please?

Saadinov

Cannot do that, but you can change device name on tether app.

Hi,

Thank you for the reply.

I was happy to find tether app but soon after ,the big disapointment because the app doesn't work properly. Everytime you want to use it, you need to reboot the router to be able to connect even if the app detect the router. Many people wrote reviews about the problem but nothing has been done.

Is it possible to add an editable name column in the DHCP Server with a small router firmware update? I am sure it will help a lot of people.

Regards

Saad

I used to the app too. I don't have to reboot the router to get it appeared on the app.

It's better to contact tplink support directly to figure it out and you could pass your feedback about changing name as well.

@Saadinov Yes, thats what im looking for. And to have that option also in the traffic monitor would be even better.

@hani_yassine This really seems like a glaringly obvious feature that would be easy to implement.  The infoation in the DHCP list lets me know that about 40 devices have attached to my network, less than half have a name associated with them and only a few names are actually useful to identify the device.

What it doesn't let me do is actually identify the devices (except for the few with useful names). It sure would be nice to be able to assign names to MAC addresses.  Otherwise, if I want to apply parental controls to a device, I pretty much need to make a table of MAC addresses so I know which is which.

I can assign fixed IP addresses, but that just allows me to pick a simpler number to put in my handwritten list of devices.
