I bought a TP WR941HP (UN) V2 six months ago. The router doesn't satisfy me as the configuration. The configuration said it has a signal coverage of 10000 square feet but I am facing a weaker signal within 15-20 feet open air distance. With all the default setup I reset and upgrade/downgrade many times but the results are same. I tighten the antennas well again to be sure the incidence. I set the signal strength to 100% and all other setup made just well.

I think this router is faulty and bought another new one. The results are the same. weaker signal within 15-20 feet open-air distance.

I have another WR841HP router which is working like a machine and pretty much satisfied. Even I am using a WR845n with better performance than WR941HP.

Anybody, please explain where is the problem.

Before I post here

--> I checked well my internet connection, no problems were found there.

--> No obstacles were in my testing areas

--> Device act was Router

--> The device was set up on both the roof (upside down) and tabletop

--> Firmware was upgraded according to purchase location

If there any information needs to know while you are reading please leave a comment.

Hi Human, For this case, what is the operation mode that you set up the TL0WR941HP, it has serveral different mode? Are you setting it in router mode? How many signal bar that you can get if you are 20 feet away from this router? 1bar or 2 bar or it's full bar? Have you tired to reset it by pressing the reset button for 10 seconds? If not, you can try that and check if there is any improve or not. Thanks

I have same router and same problem (signal is same or below signal of any other 2.4GHz router).

I'm expecting that 1W power should be with better range than other ordinary routers.

How to increase range of this router ?

on the management page of the TL-WR941HP, you can go to the Advanced->Adavnced settings->wifi coverage to change the coverage of the router. Here is no option to change the transmit power

Hi, Im in the Same situation. I own both TL WR941 and TL WR841. For me also TLWR841 works better than TLWR941V2. Did you get any solution later to strenthen the power of the TLWR941 V2?

@Human I am experiencing the same problem here. I have two other normal TP-Link routers which perform better than this high power one, which is ridiculous. I have tried every settings, to no avail.

This seems like a joke from TP-Link's end, since so many perople are experiencing it.

@tlabsim

what is the current network diagram? Please provide more information about the current issue.

What kind of troubleshooting/settings you have tried yet?

Try to modify the wireless settings and ensure the firmware is up to date.

Besides, you can hard reset the router to give it a shot.

Best regards.

@Kevin_Z

I'm currently with the same problem. Already checked my firmware version, reset the router many times and changed the channels but nothing works.

The router is configured to Range Extender Mode.

What should I do?

@All,

This is really a Joke for TP-Link for this problem. And Yes, till now i discovered the WR941HP is a very weak Signaled Router. Its worse than a normal range Router.

By the way, Currently I am using another Wifi range extender from Xiomi and the funny part is, this tiny wifi extender signal is so strong that I get the signal Two buildings away.

So use Wifi extender / Replace the Router thats the only Solution :-). TP-Link cannot do anything with the weak signal progblem.
