Solution Sending carrier SIM /plan setup codes not working MR6400
Solution Sending carrier SIM /plan setup codes not working MR6400
Hardware Version :
Firmware Version :
ISP :
I can send and receive SMS messages from the MR6400 but cannot send carrier codes.
We use pre paid SIMs for temporary WiFi remote installations and in order to set them up with the carrier need to send a code in the form *nnn*nnnn# eg *777*75# to start a 2GB plan for 30 days .
What we do at the moment is install the sim in a phone send the codes from there and then install them in the MR6400 which is tedious
Would much prefer to be able to send from the MR6400 administration interface. Is there a trick for this ?

Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) is a technology that allows you to communicate with your service provider using short codes. It usually consists of a number that starts with * and ends with #. You can query various services on this page.
TL-MR6400 does not support this feature, so we can only do that on the phone.

@cdxp I second this complaint. When I go step by step into the USSD of a local ISP, then I send the first code (*164#) and get a reply to select a data plan... But then I can't reply to that with the selection I want from the menu because the router has disabled the "Send" button! So there is no way I can use the USSD menu!! So the workaround would be to send the whole code in one go, but that doesn't work either (like for example *164*1#).
Dear TP-Link people, I have 3x TL-MR6400 on a project site and this is so annoying not to be able to use your router properly, which by the way works very well apart from this fault. It would be great if you couls simply skip disabling the "Send" button, that would solve this matter!
Thank you.

@TP-Link It is amazing that you didn't take the time to read the issue we are having... Please read the description of the problem and then you see that we are talking about USSD issues... The "Send" button disappears after the first step of the USSD which makes it impossible to select menus in the USSD if more than one step! Solution: Do NOT disable the send button! Allow it to be enabled so we can use the USSD system!

@Ruffie Thank you very much for the reply and detailed information.
May I know the hardware version and firmware version of your TL-MR6400?

@Sunshine Hi. I am sorry but the router is being shipped with the camp to another country for the next 4 weeks.
I however know that it had the latest availlable firmware so I think it is easy for you to replicate the issue.
All we ask for is that you do not disable the "Send" button so we can continue sending messages for 2nd, 3rd etc stages of the USSD menus. That way we can use this menu.
Thank you.
