Model : Archer D7

Hardware Version : v1 00000001

Firmware Version : 1.6.0 0.9.1 v002d.0 Build 160216 Rel.57110n

ISP : Telstra

Telstra NBN Optical Fibre to the Node VDSL
Telstra supplied sagecom Fast 5355
Using Archer D7 for swiching to provide more ports

The issue.
All other devices get internet when plugged into the WAN port of the Fast 5355 except the Archer D7. I would like to know why and how to make it work if possible.

Notes: The Archer D7 does get internet when plugged into a 10/100 LAN port on the Fast 5355 but we want to use the WAN port for its 1GbE speed. Would also be a bonus if we could use the WAN port of the Archer D7 as an additional LAN port. We are keen on re-using/recycling old hardware and don't want to waste the GbE capability of the Archer D7.

Extensive details:
Must use the Fast 5355 for voip as telstra wont release details.
Fast 5355 is also the only VDSL modem we have.

Hi Stuperfied,

Is the Telstra Fast 5355 connected to your ISP with telephone line and get internet access?

You can configure the Archer D7 as an access point, then you can use all four LAN ports, just turn off the DHCP server on the D7.

Hi, thank you for your prompt reply. Yes, the Fast 5355 is connected to the ISP with telephone line and does have internet access. I have now disabled the DHCP service on the D7 as per your recommendation however this did not solve my problem. Devices on the D7 still do not have internet access when I connect it to the WAN port of the Fast 5355. If I configure it as an access point, will that allow it to connect to the WAN port of the Fast 5355? If so, how do I configure that?

As an additional note, all my port forwarding, static addressing and DHCP are done on the Fast 5355.

Hi, that's the settings on the Fast 5355, you can connect a computer to the WAN port of the Fast 5355 directly , make sure you can get internet access on the computer. Then connect the D7 to the WAN port, should be ok.

Computer works, D7 does not, which is the point of this entire conversation.

I've solved the problem.
To connect a LAN port on the TP-Link Archer D7 to the WAN port of the Fast 5355 you need to use a crossover cable because there is no auto correction.
