Model : M5250(UN)

Hardware Version : ver 1.0

Firmware Version : factory default, initial version

ISP : RCS-RDS

I'm trying to update to the M5250(UN)_V1_170418_beta from here: https://www.tp-link.com/ro/download/M5250.html#Firmware
the zip only contains the .bin file and not the FW update utility, so I used the update utility from the original factory FW
when I'm trying to update, using W10 x64, the device just shuts off at the start of the process - I have to remove its battery and USB cable to boot it up because it locks up

I think that can be upgraded via the update utility too.

What's your current firmware version? You tried and the M5250 locks up? Like no response? No internet?

you misunderstood me
it can't be updated via that utility because the M5250 locks up (shuts down) when I initiate the FW update process

if I force reboot the device, remove the USB and battery, the device works perfectly with the factory FW

since it works perfectly, there is no need to update the firmware, sometimes, wrong update will brick the device...

since the new FW fixes security flaws, yes there's need to update the FW

Not clear sure the problem. It's better to report this issue to tp-link support directly.
