Hi guys,
I have a TD-W8960N V7 (firmware 1.1.0 Build 171106 Rel.72267)
It keeps rebooting at least once a day.
It is configured almost as default but with a wifi schedule (which I have disabled but the router still reboots).
I do not have a SysLog server so can never see the logs as they are memory only and reset when the device restarts.
I have a couple of android phones, a couple of Amazon Kindle Fire, a couple of Amazon Echo, a couple of laptops, a desktop (wired) and a Sony BluRay player (wired) attached intermittently.
It has just happened however with only a phone, laptop and two Amazon Echo on wifi.
It has been occuring for months and I have never got to the bottom of it. I thought the firmware upgrade might fix it but to no avail.
Does anyone have any ideas that can actually be investigated.
Cheers,
Simon

Hi,
I had exactly the same problem as you and it almost drived me mad. I have exactly the same router as you and firmware. After a lot of trial and error, I finally solved it. You need to make the TR-069 client completely disabled.
You find the setting under "Management".
Enter something random on "ACS Url", so it´s not empty.
Uncheck "Connection Request Authentication".
Change "WAN Interface used by TR-069 client" to LAN.
Click "Save/Apply"
Another good thing is to make sure IGMP is disabled on the WAN-interface. You probably only need it if you want to use the router with a IP-TV box.
Maybe some of the mentioned steps are unnecessary, but they doesn't do any harm. My router has been up for a week since I did these changes.
I wish someone could explain why the router is shipped with default settings that can cause all these problems. I searched all around the internet and never found anything. It's a bit sad that I had to figure this out all by my own.
I hope this can be of any help to anyone having the same problems!
Cheers,
Patrik

Same problem

There was such a problem in my
Devyroom office, the firmware did not help. We did not have time to understand, so we just bought new routers. And these lie like pieces of iron. I would be grateful for the decision.

Hi,
I found one more thing that may confirm my suspicions. In the latest firmware for hardware version 8 one of the bugfixes are:
" 1.Fixed a Bug in tr069 which will cause the router to reboot."
Well! I think we have the same problem with V7.Maybe there will be a new firmware for V7 sooner or later. In the mean time the workaround in my previous post should solve the problem.
My router have a uptime of 13 days now! :-)
Regards
Patrik

Thanks Patrik,
Disabling TR-069 using your instructions is working. The router has been up for over 24 hours - which is a record for here :-)
I did not disable IGMP as I really wanted to understand the minimum change required to stabilise the system.
Thanks again,
Simon

Patrik,
My router has been up for over 19 days which means it hasn't rebooting since I made your suggested TR-069 change.

Simon,
That was good to hear and that I could help someone. Good luck! This router is now the most stable router I ever owned and the speeds is better than with my previous Netgear.
