Feature Request: Allow Combined Internet & VoIP Traffic on TP-Link Routers
Issue:
Currently, many TP-Link routers separate VoIP and internet traffic, preventing devices connected via WiFi from accessing VoIP services like Zoiper, Linphone, and other SIP-based apps. This limitation makes it difficult to use VoIP on mobile and desktop devices without additional configuration workarounds.
Requested Feature:
We request an option in the firmware to combine VoIP and internet traffic, allowing all connected devices (wired and wireless) to use VoIP services seamlessly. This could be achieved by:
- Disabling VLAN separation for VoIP and Internet – Allowing both to function on the same network.
- Enhanced SIP ALG support – Ensuring SIP traffic is handled correctly to avoid NAT issues.
- Better firewall & QoS settings for VoIP – Allowing users to prioritize VoIP traffic while ensuring internet connectivity remains stable.
- Simplified Port Forwarding for VoIP Services – Making it easier to configure SIP/RTP ports for VoIP apps.
Why It’s Important:
- Many users rely on VoIP services for work and personal communication.
- Without this feature, users are forced to use complex VLAN setups, external VoIP gateways, or secondary routers.
- Competing brands already offer better VoIP integration, making TP-Link less attractive for users needing VoIP support.
Proposed Solution:
- Add a toggle in the admin panel to combine VoIP and Internet traffic instead of keeping them separate.
- Improve SIP ALG handling or provide a clear option to enable/disable it per user preference.
Would love to hear from TP-Link engineers and the community on this! Anyone else facing this issue?
