Model: Deco X50
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.7 Build 20240809 Rel. 18610

I recently bought a TP-Link Deco X50-5G(1.0) router to use with a SIM card. I am getting low speed (about 35 Mbps) compared to what I get on a 5G connection on my phone (150 Mbps) in the same location. I am also only getting 4G+ while other devices get 5G in the same area. Can anyone help with any troubleshooting steps to come close to the speed I am getting on my phone?

Additionally, when I login through the web browser then I see ISP's DNS while in the Deco app I see the Cloudflare DNS. I will appreciate any help to ensure that these two are consistent.

Thank you! Yes, I had to go to the ISP here and ask them to enable 5G on my SIM card. Now, I am getting the right speed. I am still trying to change the DNS for WAN. However, every time I change the DNS to Cloudflare, the DNS reverts to the ISP's address. Someone on Reddit mentioned to close the app completely in iOS and then try to change the DNS. However, that also did not help. Any suggestions to fix this?

  @kylebwess

Have you enabled the 5G for the sim card you are using with the x50-5G ?

At least in my country, you need to insert the sim card in a mobile phone, send a specific SMS to your ISP provider to enable the 5G, and then insert it in the router. If you don't do this, you will only be getting 4G speeds.

  @kylebwess

Just help me understand. Why are you using a port as WAN? Are you using the Deco X50-5g as an access point?

I don't think so, since you are using a 5G sim with it to provide the internet. Do you maybe mean LAN?

I have changed the DNS of my local network to cloudflare DNS via the app (Settings > more > Advanced > DHCP)

What you see on the web interface of your browser is the DNS of your ISP. I don't think you can change that. But you can change the DNS of your local netwrok.

  @kylebwess I'm also having speed issues and stability with my X50-5G. It randomly goes down throughout the day at different times.

And it seems that it chokes when there are about 20+ devices in the network. Been terrible. Regret buying.
