Adjacent powerlines and network issues

Hi all,

I have a relatively complex situation: in my building there are two separate power grids (let's call them PowerGrid1 and PowerGrid2), but one common network.

For a couple of years now, I've linked a remote camera via powerline to my network and I've been extremely happy with it; I don't think I've even had to reboot the powerline adapters since I installed them. This is on PowerGrid1.

Recently, I need to create another link, between two points that are on PowerGrid2. So I installed a new pair of powerline adapters, created a new network name for them (so I see two different powerline networks in the tpPLC app). Everything seems to work fine, however, I've started having issues with my camera, which apparently suffers "short disconnects" or something similar, causing the video recordings to become buggy/corrupt. I've verified that it's related to the powerlines, as I completely disconnected the new pair for a whole week and I noticed no camera issues. Within 24 hours or connecting again the new powerline pair, I got the same behavior.

Has anyone faced any similar issues? Any hints?

Thank you

  @echamakiotis

Hi,thanks for sharing your question here.

Let me confirm more information for better analysis.

1. Please tell the model of your old powerline kit and new powerline kit.

2. You camera and the new powerline kit are not under the same PowerGrid, right?

3. Can you try to use the new kit to replace the old kit? Then monitor whether the new kit and camera can work properly under the same PowerGrid?

4. Please upgrade firmware to the latest. If convenient, please share hardware and firmware of all your powerline units.

Thanks for your cooperation.

@Marvin_S Hi and thank for your answer,

regarding your questions:

  1. The "old" kit consists of two TL-PA4010(EU) v.3.0, just upgraded them both to 1.4.0.20-00_401013_180914_902
  2. The "new" kit consists of a TL-PA4010P(EU) ver.5.0 (1.4.0.20-00_401115_191120_901) and a TL-PA4020P(EU) ver.3.0 (1.3.1.2141-00_402113_180516_901)
  3. The problem is not with the camera and the "old" kit; this has been working fine for quite some time now; it's when I install both kits (on different power grids, but on the same ethernet network) that the "old" kit starts acting up (the "new" one might be active up as well, but since the camera is on the "old" kit, that's where I'm noticing it)
  4. I've upgraded the "old" kit to the latest available firmware today, 1.4.0.20-00_401013_180914_902

Thanks
