Model: RE505X
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.13 Build 20230926 Rel. 181123

When connecting a laptop to the RE505X in windows 10, a message appears: "This Wi-Fi network uses an outdated security standard that is no longer in use. We recommend connecting to another network...".

Solution:

1. Network Switching: If you trust another Wi-Fi network, disconnect from the current network and connect to another network. For more information, see the article Connecting to a Wi-Fi network in Windows.

2. Security Settings Update: For home networks, consider updating your router's security settings to a more secure standard, such as WPA3. This can be done by accessing the router's settings through its software. For more information, see Setting up a wireless network.

3. Upgrade your router: If the router is outdated, consider upgrading to a new model that supports the latest security standards.

Is it planned to release a new firmware for the RE505X v.1, which will support WPA3?

P.S. I bought this Wi-Fi range extender only 1.5 years ago, I would not want to change it to another model so quickly :)

Hi,

WPA2-PSK with AES (CCMP) encryption is still considered secure.

Modern devices are usualy notifying the user about the use of the unsecure WPA-PSK TKIP.

Try the following. Log into the RE505X, go to the "Wireless" menu and, depending on whether you are using it in Range Extender or Access Point mode, change the "Security" from "WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK" to "WPA2-PSK" or "Version" from "Auto" to "WPA2-PSK" and "Encryption" from "Auto" to "AES".

Hi @mdvxxl,

Thank you for contacting our community.

Here are some suggestions may help you:

(1) It is recommended to change the encryption method of the front-end router or main AP to WPA2 + AES
(2) Then upgrade the Range Extender's firmware to the newest in the official support page;
(3) Then reset and reconfigure the Range Extender after upgrading to the newest firmware. Set the Range Extender's SSID to a new one for checking, it's more recommended to configure through the web page. Then reboot the router and Range Extender together after that.
