Model: Deco BE75
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

For whatever reason I cannot select the right model.

Anyway, the situation is the following:

I got a house with three floors. I want to create a super good Wifi on all flors, but also use the CAT6 cables that I have installed in the house during my rennovation last year.

So: I got one CAT6 cable which goes from the central place in each floor, to each room. Then I got one CAT6 cable, going down from that central place from each floor, to the basement. So I got a tree-like network.

My plan is, to go full TP-LINK hardware. Which means, I want to buy 3 switches (8-Port, I do only need 3 ports for those 3 cables going to each room, I got that on every floor, but then I need the fourth port also for the Wifi-Router and the fifth is needed to get Internet from the basement on the switch. Which means if I go with a 5-port switch, I wouldn't have any free port - if required....)

So I go with 3x TP-Link TL-SG108 V3 8-ports Gigabit Network Switch.

For each those floors I would use the TP-Link Deco XE75 Mesh WLAN Set (3 Pack)

I would connect them to the switch. The switch is connected in the basement to my DSL router: TP-Link VX231V.

That one is connected to the internet coming from outside the street to my basement.

Would this set-up work? I couldn't see any videos or someone explaining if I can connect all three DECO XE75 to the dsl router/moden, usually they would always connect only one, and then connect the other DECOs to the previous DECO, like in a chain. But what I would have is more a tree/star schema.

This is what you want, if I understand correctly:

This will work, but only if you configure Deco mesh to run in Access Point mode. More about it here: Switching a Deco to Access Point (AP) Mode

@Meckser The XE75 have 3 Ethernet ports, two of them will be available as well.

Hey, so when I check my deco app, it looks to me as if only my "main" deco is connected via the ethernet cable, but the other one is currently running in wifi mode. I have not yet installed the third one, but can you confirm, or is this a bug in the app?

You see that the deco named OG is connected via cable, but in the app the deco named EG has a "wifi signal" symbol. Does that mean I am doing something wrong? I switched the deco to access point mode (though this is done for all decos right, you set it up once and then it works like that?

The operation mode of the mesh (router or AP) applies, indeed, to the whole mesh.  Did the main Deco restart after you changed the operation mode?
Sometimes the app does not display the current state of the mesh.

Does it work better if you temporarily move the satellite Deco close to the main Deco, and connect it by Ethernet cable?

It did restart back then I believe, but I want to be sure that I am running my Decos in AP mode as well. How can I double check that, is there any way? I just like to be sure, I invested now quite heavily in renovating my house, putting all my CAT6 cables etc. and I would like to have excellent wifi speed on each floor (each floor has one deco)

  @Meckser

When the Deco runs in AP mode, all devices obtain their IP addresses from the DSL Router, as if all devices were connected directly to that DSL Router.

When the Deco runs in Router mode, the devices connected to the Deco mesh obtain their IP addresses from the main Deco.  The DSL Router assigns IP addresses only to the Main Deco and to devices connected to the DSL Router.

Well that's the point all my Decos are connected to my main DSL Router(/modem) which is my TP-Link VX231V.

So I have two Decos currently, both connected via CAT6 cable to my TP-Link VX231V. I put AP mode on and selected on Deco as "main" deco. But the second Deco seems to be connected via the main Deco, even though it is wired to my DSL Router/modem, also when I check the app, yeah both Decos have their own IP adress, but the Deco named EG says "Connected to OG" which is my main Deco. I am fearing that TP-Link seems not capable of doing this plug and play with their own product, where Decos are wired to my main DSL Router, who is not a Deco (because I need a DSL Modem as well).

@Meckser The Deco app will always show a satellite Deco as connected to another Deco, even if the satellite is wired to a switch (in your case, the DSL Router(/modem)).  This is probably because the app is only interested by the Deco units.

What you want to see is a cable connection between the satellite and the main, not a wifi connection.

Does it work better if you temporarily connect the satellite Deco by Ethernet cable to the main Deco?
