Hi all, I picked up a tl-sg108 8 port unmanaged switch second hand, and I have a question about it please? I have it connected directly, to my fibre router, all seems to be working just fine, except for one oddity.....

There is a single green LED, at each of the 8 ports, if an device is plugged into a port, the LED flashes, as I would expect, and I have 4 such devices plugged in. However, the router to switch cable, irrespective of which port I plug it into, the LED does not light up at all, no flashing, nothing. Is this normal, or does it suggest a problem please?

From switch installation guide:

Q2. The Link/Act LED is not lit when a device is connected to the corresponding port.

It is recommended that you check the following items:
A1: Make sure that the cable connectors are firmly plugged into the
switch and the device.
A2: Make sure the connected device is turned on and works normally.
A3: The cable must be less than 100 meters long (328 feet).

That didn't really answer my question... Should the Link/Act LED, light up, at the port where the cable from the main router is plugged in? The LED's for every port, do light up, for all of my devices. The cable from the main router, fails to light the LED, no matter which port it is plugged into. I am trying to decide whether this is a fault, or not. Other than that, it seems to perform at full speed, as near as I can tell.

According to description from the user guide, the port should work as any other port where a device is connected (light up).

But as you said - there's no problem when using the switch and you don't have to worry about that.
