Model: Deco X50
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.10

Hello,

I'm experiencing an issue with the Deco X50 when using the TP-Link Deco app for Android (version 3.8.88).

When I configure a DDNS using the Tp-Link provider, even if I:

  1. Use an unavailable name in the first DDNS configuration (e.g., "test.tplinkdns.com") and discard the changes, or

  2. Create a valid one and then delete and disable the DDNS,

The DDNS name still appears in the VPN Server Address section alongside the IP address. This happens even if the DDNS was deleted. This behavior occurs specifically if you have or create a VPN configuration.
I have not tested other DDNS providers, so I'm not sure if this issue is specific to Tp-Link or occurs with others as well.

Could this be a bug? How can I ensure the VPN Server Address reflects only valid and active DDNS configurations or just the IP address if the DDNS is disabled?

Thank you for your help!

Hi, Did you test through the OpenVPN server?

If you tried to disable the VPN server and enable it again, or remove the current VPN server profile and add it again, will the deleted DDNS show up again alongside the IP address?

-If it showed up again, could you please save a screenshot for me?

Wait for your reply and best regards.

Hi  @David-TP

I've tried deleting, disabling, and recreating the VPN server, but the issue persists, even after reinstalling the app.

I also tried disabling the DDNS and waited to obtain a different public IP (I have a dynamic IP) to somehow disassociate it, but it still shows an outdated and deactivated DDNS next to the new server IP.

Even if you look at the screenshot, where in this case both the VPN and DDNS are turned off, it still suggests enabling DDNS and yet displays one. (Screenshot is in Spanish)

Looking forward to further guidance.

Best regards.

 Hi @David-TP

Thank you for your reply.

I’ve already submitted the Deco app log as requested. Additionally, I included something new I noticed:

Sometimes, when DDNS is disabled, an Update Interval option appears with "Never" set as the default, and time intervals of up to 1 hour are shown if accessed. However, this option often disappears immediately upon entering the settings.

This issue might be related to the persistent DDNS problem. I hope this additional detail helps with the investigation.

Best  regards.
