Dear @Solla-topee

As I can see you are a part of the TP-Link team, may I suggest your team to discover this scenario for your problem solving:

* Focus on Wifi6 and Mesh technologies - does C225 survive in those set-ups there I assume are more dynamic events and even (I believe) system being more smart by orienting itself for the best coverage and trying to "roam" clients between e.g. M4 or X60 TP-link units

* Make a setup there are e.g. three TP-Link M4 or X60 units in layout that they are far enough to "facilitate roaming" but still close enough (signal strength) that the system smart algorithms starts roaming between the base stations - and stress test C225 in those circumstances *

  @HenrikEkman

Hi,
Thank you for your attempt and feedback, I'll forward it to the relevant team to evaluate.

For the reported issue, please feel free to reply if there are any updates. You can also enable an IoT network on the Deco for the Tapo C225 to connect only, and then check if it will work fine.

If the problem remains, please refer to the instructions below to collect the camera log for further analysis.
How to get the log of Tapo Camera

Best Regards

Hello Henrik,

The symptoms you described, and the setup are remarkably similar apart from the model of wireless nodes.  It seems to me that we have been experiencing the same issue.

One new C225 - less than a one month old, firmware up-to-date

* A system of TP-Link Deco X60 Mesh Wifi - with five base stations (one primary X60 as a router to LAN with 4 satellite X60 units as wireless "bridges")

✅️ similar set up except ghag I have the XE75

* Signal strength is "phenomenal" as the X60 units are in a small are in the end

✅️ I too have an excellent wireless signal with 6 nodes

* Rebooting the whole X60 mesh system does not help

✅️ automatically rebooting every night made no difference to the problem I was experiencing - I had to turn the power off to the C225 camera, before it would join the network.

* There are no other devices in the network experiencing this (TV, music streamers, dishwasher, computers, iPhones, and up 10 Tapo T115 WIFI smart plugs)

✅️ the same here: no other devices were affected by this problen, ever. It only ever occurred with the C225 camera.  Even the cheaper C120 cameras were fine.

✅️ in addition, my DECO XE75 mesh wifi nodes, and TAPO C225 camera's firmware was also up to date with the latest releases.

Good luck with your setup. I hope your work around has fixed your issue. 😊👍

  @Solla-topee ,

Now after a couple of days using C225 - I have not experienced C225 going offline. A workaround with Deco X60 is:

Configure the X60 in a way that C225 is "an IoT device"

X60 not to use Mesh technology with the C225

It has been working now several days (with daily reboot) and I have not seen it going off-line at least times I have been monitoring it.

THIS MEANS TO ME: Tapo C225 engineering & SW team should now indeed conduct internal tests described below and to consider firmware update:

* Wifi 6 network (including their own other brand Deco X50...75 products)

* Several access points in mesh to facilitate roaming and creating more "dynamic" wifi environment

* Mesh technology enabled (roaming between access points)

Rgrds, Henrik

Tuesday

  @Solla-topee

I bougth the C225 2 weeks ago. It keeps going offline (blinking red led)

I have 1 router, no pods, no mesh. The router its pretty close to the camera. So the signal is strong (-70 dBm aprox)

The camera is connected to the 2.4 WiFi

I changed its channel to 11 and set it to 20 Hz.

I've reset the camera and set up all the camera again a couple of times.

I reboot it at 10 pm every night, hoping it will keep itself online for the night. Sometimes it lasts more than 12 hrs without going offline, sometimes it doesn't.

I use it to monitor a patient during the night. It's impossible to do it without the camera being reliable.

Do I need to do something else to get this to work? Or would you recommend another camera model? I need to fix this disconnections.

  @Gize

Hi,
If the RSSI value of the camera is around -70dBm, it's a weak Wi-Fi signal strength. It's recommended to move the camera and the router closer, and then check if the camera will work better.
Best Regards
