Model: Tapo P300
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.15 Build 231130 Rel 122554

My P300 fails to switch on/off about once every 3 to 4 weeks. The app claims that the switch is off when it is actually on or vice-versa. The schedule itself seems reliable but the relay (or whatever does the actual switching) sometimes fails to switch.

This is just too unreliable for me.

What has been the experience of other users?

Have I just bought a dud unit or is the product itself unreliable?

I am trying to work out if I should risk buying another P300 or look for an alternative.

I'd be grateful for any feedback.

The first phenomenon seems to be that the device status hasn't fully loaded. Have you tried refreshing the app or force-closing it and then reopen it?

Regarding the issue with schedules, since they operate based on device time, if there's a network issue causing the device to fail to sync time properly (like after a power outage when the network doesn't immediately recover), it could lead to schedule failures or delays. Also, it's crucial to confirm that your schedule is set correctly and enabled, including the effective time and repeat settings.

Thanks for your response.

I'm sure all the schedules are correct. The device has operated almost perfectly for 5 or 6 months. I have had 6 failures in thousands of switch events.

I always open the Tapo app when I become aware of the failure. This always indicates that the switch is in the state it should be but alas the attached appliance disagrees.

Your time sync theory sound plausible but I am skeptical.
