Declined Will Tapo P300 support energy consumption monitoring?
Declined Will Tapo P300 support energy consumption monitoring?
I like the flexibility the power strip offers, but i think it would be great to have the possibility of power consumption monitoring like the smart plugs have (even if not by individual outlet). I know that theoretically I could plug the strip into the smart plug and have an overview there, but that would be impractical for a couple of reasons for me: firstly, having two Tapo devices in a row seems redundant, secondly, I have the power strip plugged into an outlet behind the cabinet, which would mean that I would have to move a cabinet further from the wall if any additional device is plugged in between…
Does anybody have an alternative approach which provides the same solution?

Based on the latest verified information, the energy monitor feature requires specific hardware support in the product to be implemented. Models that have already been released, but do not natively support this feature, such as the Tapo P300 mentioned in this post, cannot enable the energy monitoring feature through software updates alone.
If you're looking for a smart plug that supports the energy monitor feature, check on the supported models like the Tapo P110, and P115. More new products are on the way, stay tuned!

Would be great if you could check every plug consumption individually and a sum of all of them!

I just bought 5 of these only to be sorely disappointed by the fact that it can't monitor power usage at all
Not even fussed if it can't do per point monitoring but at least overall is an absolute must have feature
What is even the point of a smart power plug that can't monitor power? It has 2 jobs to do - power things up and tell me how much they cost. And it failed at one of those things. I hope a firmware update comes in the very near future to fix this
