Vpn client stuck on connecting on deco x50
Vpn client stuck on connecting on deco x50
I have a vpn server set up in a remote location with both openvpn and pptp options, I can connect to said vpn server using both protocols from a different router and from a device connected via the problematic Deco x50.
From the deco x50 itself I get the issue of vpn client showing as connecting on both pptp and openvpn. I changed the dns to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 no improvement, same result.
As mentioned, the vpn server is accessible via a different router and via phone connected through the deco, the deco itself will not connect and I need it to connect so I can enable the vpn on specific clients that do not have the vpn client option, any ideas or tips?
My vpn server is Archer vr2100v if it makes any difference...
Thank you!

Hi, any updates on the matter?
I have the very same issue. Trying to set up the CyberGhost VPN, it keeps connecting forever.

I was not able to solve the issue. The tp-link support has never been brought to a successful end, unfortunately. In the meanwhile, I changed my VPN provider and the issue didn't pop up with it.

Hello, did you manage to get this working? I was able to connect the KeepSolid VPN a while ago, but after the latest firmware update I have this issue. I have a Deco XE75.

@jlxm
I'm almost certain that the TP-Link OpenVPN and L2TP VPN Clients use authentication, but dont use encryption... this is not an options in the GUI and not documented anywhere.
This is hard coded into the VPN Client; but not documented... so even if you run your own VPN server, its imposible to configure it to support the encryption settings that the VPN client uses.
So in summary... they implemented a VPN client, but without any of the configuration options for Authentication/Encrpytion... while also failing to document the options that are hard coded in.
