Deco X50-5G - Cannot manually select LTE/5G bands
Hello,
I would like to manually set concrete LTE/5G bands in Deco app, but I am getting error "Search failed. Please try again later".
I tried it with "O2 Czech Republic" and "Vodafone Czech Republic" SIM cards with the same result.
Internet connection and everything else works well with both mobile operators. Only manual selection of LTE/5G bands is not possible. Is it a problem of mobile operators in Czech Republic or it's an issue on TP-Link side?
Thank you in advance for reply.
Sincerely,
Tomáš Kroupa

Hi, Thank you very much for your message.
The Beta firmware didn't support manually selecting the LTE/5G bands. It fixes the LTE band to a specific one since this is the only 4G band used by the ISP NSA network.
May I know who is your SIM carrier? Did it also only support the 5G NSA network?
I noticed the error message of your case is slight different than others. Are you even not able to turn off the "Auto" band selection?
Could you please refer to this link to help me submit the APP log:
Wait for your reply and best regards.

@tomaskroupa @David-TP
Hello,
Also having some problems with selecting bands. I have 3 mobile tower near my house and I use external antenna to get signal inside the house.
I can select all the 4g band I want and it's working, but I cannot use 5g at all because on auto mode it get bad interference from other towers.
Being able to pick just one 5g band from the tower I know it coming from and few 4g bands would definitely fix my problem, but I keep getting same error when searching for bands on 5g.
best regards,

I have submitted the log, Im not sure whether you get the error or not because I have set my deco to reboot everyday at 3:00 AM.
This is what I wrote in the report:
Im using 5G NSA and I cannot manually sellect band, it is so upsetting because the band keep switching between 4g and 5g almost all the time. There is no band option for me to select (even the 4g band) My sim carrier is Hotlink by Maxis (Malaysian Telco), and yes Malaysia currently only support 5G NSA. Maybe I can try to install the beta firmware 1.1.5 version?. Thank you

Hello David,
i'm from Germany, I have also the problem with the 4G/5G.
with the first Firmware of x50 5g I got 450 MBit/s every time. Now with the newest firmware I get only 130 - 160 Mbit/s and have a bader signal than before.
I use t-mobile as Carrier. And I use an externel omnidirectional 5g Antenna.
There are two different radio towers, but I don't know which one is chosen.
could I test the Beta Firmware of could you give me advice what I can do?!?
Wait for your reply and best regards...

2 days ago latest firmware 1.1.5 b20240419 73943. Band lock option is not available with TPLink this is famous in the world so no need to talk about this. There is new feature in this latest firmware, Cell Lock, where the user needs to manually key in the NRARFCN and PCI in 5G NR values. This is supposed to force connection with a specific tower and band, but at the end not working too. I believe this is the first attempt TPLink trys to "lock" the band by locking a cell tower. After setting it still stupidly switch to the slow 4G for no reason.
At my place, 5G has 3 bars 200Mbps, 4G only 1 bar 1-10Mbps. I don't know why X50-5G can stupidly stick to the 4G ended up whole system cannot work and it will never switch back to 5G. The 4G is 1 bar very slow, and in the app it is shown as "unstable", why the H still want to switch to this poor 4G? After restarting it will connect to the good 5G and speed, until after some times it goes crazy again drop to 4G.
This is forcing people to stay away from TPlink product.

Well I finally figured out how to lock the band. The lock cell feature is not working for me, but lock band works. Just need to wait for the router to scan available band and choose the correct band (SA) or bands (NSA) to lock on.
It is unlike other brands where the user can just tick the desired band to lock from wide range of selection without the need to scan. X50 scanning may not work for first time need to keep trying, the app may just stay forever at scanning without result. This is the reason why some users cannot get the 5G lock working,
