AX1500 - no internet with excellent 5ghz connectivity
Hi,
I am having a constant problem with the 5ghz connection.
Regardless of which device I use to connect at some point during the day loading a web-page or playing a video on YT, music on Spotify,
basically whatever app requires access to the internet I get a message that I am currently offline and need to reconnect.
I check the connection and see that I am still connected to the 5ghz network. This is fixed by turning my the wifi off and on again on
the device or waiting a while. This doesn't happen with the 2,4ghz network.
It has been a problem since day 1 and no firmware updates have made any change.
Right now I got a One-mesh-enabled extender, the 305 model, but the same issue has been happening with it.
Essentially I have good or excellent 5,4ghz signal and no internet.
Please suggest a course of action as this has forced me to use the 2,4ghz connection even when being in the same room as the router and
having perfect connectivity.

Hello, there is actually a newer firmware released in July, you can check for that version on the router web GUI or Tether app, or you can download it manually from the official website, verify the country code and hardware version before upgrading:

After installing the latest firmware, please reboot both the AX1500 and the RE305, then check again if the connectivity is stable.

I will have to get it manually as it doesn't show in tether or the web ui.
Maybe it is not compatible with my hw revision.

Yes, you can install the latest firmware manually if you cannot check for the updates either on the router web or the Tether app.
Just to confirm, is the AX1500 linked to your TP-Link account? You can tell me the MAC address of it via PM, we will check and confirm why it cannot detect the updates.

I have not linked the router.
Please note I have checked both through tether and the webui.
Also this problem has been persistent since I got the router, so unless you have fixed specifically this in the latest firmware I don't expect any improvement.
I have have also attached a screenshot from tether just so you are aware that in fact I do know how to check.

@Artzox Seems like you are using HW V1.0, and not V1.20, which has the newest FW. No idea why TP-Link would release a FW update only for V1.20.

@Artzox As pointed out by ku4eto, your firmware is already the latest if its hardware is V1.
Back to the 5G unstable issue, have you tried to modify the 5G wireless settings, such as wireless channel, channel width? You can run a Wi-Fi analyzer to review the 5G channels, find and choose one that with less congestion, then monitor the connectivity.
BTW, what are the devices you have tried to connect to the 5G network? Ensure the driver for the adapter (If it is a computer) or the system OS is up-to-date.

I have specified that I am using v1 when creating the thread.
My 5ghz network is not congested, there is barely one other network on the frequency.
I have used android and iOS devices, as well as two windows 10 laptops. All behave the same.
There was nothing else to try and this is why I am posting.

Hi there. Sorry to drag up an old post, but I have this exact issue. Updated firmware today from the website for my Archer AX50, still disconnects on 5Ghz, but not 2.4Ghz.
Can I get an engineer to reach out and well?
