Unitymedia Connect Box not sending a 5GHz signal to TP Link Range Extender (RE650)
Unitymedia Connect Box not sending a 5GHz signal to TP Link Range Extender (RE650)
So I bought a TP Link RE650 range extender to boost the Wi-Fi signal from a Unitymedia Connect Box around my apartment.
The 2.4GHz channel links up perfectly and I can get the signal around the place, but strangely, the 5GHz doesn't seem to be getting sent to the range extender (or is being blocked(?)).
I can get a 5GHz wireless connection when I connect directly to the router with my MacBook or iPhone, so it's definitely working. I've tripled checked all the names and passwords, brandband and chanels. I updated RE650 to last Firmware (V1_190521) still not working. Any ideas?

Thanks for your reply, we will do some troubleshooting first and try to fix it.
1. What is the led status of the RE650? Does 5GHz wifi led come on?
2. Try to change the authentication type and encryption type of 5GHz to auto on the main router and then reconfigure the RE650.
3. Meanwhile, is there any mac filtering or access control enabled on the main router?
4. Still the same, please login to the web UI of the RE650 and take a full screenshot of the status page; and then go to settings-system tools-system log to save it and send the txt file to us. And please tell us the model number of the main router.
Thanks in advance, and have a nice day.

Thanks for the quick response. I tried all kinds of encryption, I even tried without any password for 5ghz Wi-Fi on main Router .
It did not help. Blue LED for 5 Ghz Wi-Fi is off on the repeater and never was on. The repeater sees the 5 GHz Wi-Fi but does not connect (i got message that the password or network name is incorrect). I also tried changing the names of Wi-Fi 5 Ghz. Negative result. Any Filters also do not work on the main router
Main Router is CH7465LG-LC

Thanks for your reply.
Please click here to download the latest firmware and upgrade it.
Meanwhile, please confirm that the host wifi name and password are correct.
After that, please reconfigure the RE650 and verify whether it works fine.
Still the same, please show us a screenshot of the status page and the system log to us to do further analysis.
Thanks in advance, have a nice day.

Hi,
I have already updated the repeater firmware. Problem still exists, wi-fi 2.4 works great. Wi-Fi 5 ghz cannot login to main router.
Host Wi-Fi name and password i checked of course. username and password are the same for both Wi-Fi network, I tried changing the name and turning off the password for Wi-Fi 5 Ghz, but the repeater still could not connect to the main router
