tp-link is a weird company, the hardware components are very well, but the firmware is sucks, and we need to install and use alternative firmware all time, and what about routers that do not support...

gargoyle and openwrt are almost same, because gargoyle firmware is based on openwrt. dd-wrt from my experience, has a lot of wifi issues.

can i upgrade directly from gargoyle 1.4.7 to openwrt? gargoyle is based on it.

they wrote on their website that the support is V1-1.8, no 1.9 http://www.gargoyle-router.com/wiki/doku.php?id=supported_routers_-_tested_routers#atheros_ar71xx_routers so my unit is not supported.
