gargoyle and openwrt are almost same, because gargoyle firmware is based on openwrt. dd-wrt from my experience, has a lot of wifi issues.

they wrote on their website that the support is V1-1.8, no 1.9 http://www.gargoyle-router.com/wiki/doku.php?id=supported_routers_-_tested_routers#atheros_ar71xx_routers so my unit is not supported.
