Powerline WIFI Extender AV200 help

I have my BT Infinity fibre optic broadband connected successfully to my AV equipment via tp link powerline adapters, HOWEVER i also have a TP link powerline WIFI extender that I have a few issues with.
My router is a HOMEHUB 3 and it changes WIFI Channel automatically according to what gives the best signal. But I have set it to STAY on one channel. however my TP LINK extender still sticks on channel 1 and does not follow the router. so I now have TWO separate WIFI feeds from the same router on different channels. how can I fix this so that the WIFI extender simply EXTENDS my wifi.....
