Region : UnitedKingdom

Model : TD-W8968

Hardware Version : V1

Firmware Version : 140804

ISP : Plusnet

Every few days the wireless drops. devices can still see the connection but keep trying to authenticate and don't connect. Disabling and re-enabling wireless fixes the problem an all is fine again for a few days. I am only using the 2.4 GHz network and no guest network. Channel is set to 11 and mode is 11bgn mixed. I think I am using the latest firmware . There are no errors reported in the log. Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks

Jon

Did you try to remove network profile and reconnect instead of disabling and re-enabling wireless?
Try channel 1 or 6 and channel width 20MHz.

All devices go down at the same time so it seems to be an issue with the router and not the device profile.

Better try to adjust the settings first. Wireless issue has always something to do with background interference.

mode: 11N only
Channelwidth: 20MHz
Security: WPA2-PSK, AES encryption

Thanks, butt if I set 11N only presumably that will mean older devices such as Wii and PS3 won't be able to connect?

I have noticed some loses of connection with my Archer D5 on my mom's LG L65 smartphone.

On my LG G2, OnePlus One, Asus N56VZ, Asus X553MA, MINIX Neo X8-H and others I have not noticed any issues.
But I will be more aware of this now on.

The Archer D5 firmware was upgraded to "Archer D5_V1_141222".
One of the changes is "(1)Updated the wireless driver".

Already upgraded, and it all seems fine.
Will be doing some more tests.

Does anyone have feedback on this new firmware?

My problems have gone away since changing channel so I expect there is some interference on the previous channel I was using.

I use the android application Wifi Analyzer.

On Windows I have Xirrus and - my favourite - InSSIDer (Home version 3.1.2.1 is free).

All this programs are free and can help you understand the channel population at your home/business.

You should see which of channels #1, #6 or #11 is better for you, and have the Channel Width into consideration (20MHz or 40MHz).

Hi, before I upgrade have you had any problems or noticed anything different?

No, I have never had problems with Wi-fi signal.

I had some problems with my mom's LG L65, but it was the smartphone itself that was turning off the Wi-fi automatically and has a poor Wi-fi antenna.

The router has a strong and stable signal.
A great improvement over my last modem router provided by my ISP.

Specially my laptop (Asus N56VZ) has a great connectivity.
My Android running set-top-box MINIX Neo X8-H also has a good Wi-fi connection, but it is limited to 65Mbps. The latest model has more speed over Wi-fi.
