I currently have a system which has four X50 devices

The main X50 is connected via ethernet to a TP-Link Switch TL-SG105S

One X50 is connected to the switch and shows on the app as hard wired

I have recebntly installed devices outside the house including a Ring Dopotbell and camera and today a Hypervolt EV charger. We had some difficulty in connecting the charger and in the end I took an X50 from upstairs and connected it to an extension lead and placed it next to the charger. This fixed the problem. I have also been having intermittent connection issues with the doorbell

I am now looking at getting an X50 outdoor device and researching it I see it can be powered via an ethernet connection. My question is can I do that by connecting it via the switch and would that supply the power

@JohnC45 Indeed, what you describe is the correct way to use a POE injector (TL-POE160S or other).  The POE injector injects power to the Ethernet on one side, and lets the data transit between the two Ethernet cables.

The POE injector must be powered as well.

@JohnC45 That switch will not sypply the power over Ethernet.

You need a POE switch or a POE injector.  Be sure to take into account the power requirements of the outdoor Deco when selecting the POE switch or injector: more info here.

I have proved that my problems with my devices are a weak signal so I think I need an outdoor X50

The TL-POE160S looks like an ideal solution. Can I run an ethernet cable from my TL-SG105S to the TL-POE160S and then another to the X50.

It would be extremely difficult to provide a separate powqer supply to the outdoor X50

Thanks for your help
