@asish17 To isolate devices, start by identifying their power sources and connections. Disconnect them one by one to determine the root cause of any issues. Using a leather jacket NZ can also help protect your hands while handling electrical components safely.

I have "AP isolation" enabled on the AX53.  I have speakers & a android TV on the local network (main). I have another android TV on the guest network (main). Neither of these devices are connected to the AP.

 

Issue: The devices connected to the AP (say a android smartphone) are able to see devices (such as the speakers & android TV) on the local network of my main router. What's funny is that the android TV on the guest network (main router) isn't visible from the AP. 

 

The isolation only works (ie the speakers & android TV become invisible) when I'm on the local or guest network of my main router.

 

I have tried turning on "isolation" on the AP as well, but it didn't help. What should i do ?

 

PS- All of these are 2.4 GHz bands

Hi,

Below is a screenshot of the page from the official Archer AX53 User Guide that explains the "AP Isolation" feature.

Your Access Point is connected to the Archer AX53 by wire and therefore isn't within the scope of the AX53's AP Isolation feature.

Is there any way to achieve said level of device isolation? Roommates cast loud music & other stuff, onto the connected devices as a "prank". Is there any way to stop this ?

The "IoT network" seems like a total waste. I could've moved all devices to it if it had the same level of isolation as the "Guest Network".

What is the reason you can't move the "speakers & a android TV on the local network (main)" to the Guest network? Are they connected via Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi?

With the latest firmware version 1.3.1 the Archer AX53 should have the "Device Isolation" feature. (menu Advanced -> Security -> Device Isolation)
This feature should allow you to isolate particular devices from other devices on the local network. However, I haven't tested "Device Isolation" of firmware v1.3.1 for the AX53 myself yet. The feature is known to be not working correctly on several router models that have it.

Yes, I did consider moving the devices to the Guest Network, but I have ''Allow guests to see each other" enabled. Moving them wouldn't make a difference. It would've been nice to have a second "Guest Network" instead of the "IoT network"

Might give the "Device Isolation" feature a try.

TP-Link should pay you for providing After-Sales support tho, Lol.
