Model: TL-WPA8631P KIT
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version:

In the past week, I've installed a TL-WPA8631P kit, however experiencing dropouts on 2 different laptops in Teams and Zoom calls only.

i think mainly in Video calls, will need to recheck.

Both adaptor and extender are already on latest firmware based on TPLink website.

Adaptor was plugged into an extension lead - problem solved I thought by plugging directly into wall socket - but no side, still have the issue

Whislt checking this using tp-plc utility for firmware version of adaptor and extender, I noticed the QoS settings were set to 'gaming' - I changed to 'internet' which had made no difference.  I plan next to change to 'Audio/Visual'

Otherwise, general browsing, share point use not affected so don't believe a VPN issue.

Almost getting line speeds in my upstairs office - 285/45 vs advertised 300/50

could it be anything else?

Note, I did not have the same issue with the previous Av1300 power line adapters - so I know the internet service is ok.

  @sierra-papa

tried switching QoS to Audio/Video - still freezing during video calls, but fine during voice only Teams calls.

Hi @sierra-papa,

Please hard reset and reconfigure the powerline system for a try. In addition, may I know when did you buy the powerline adapters?

Here are some suggestions that may help you:
1. Check whether there are high-power appliances (refrigerators, microwave ovens, air conditioners, etc.) in the circuit where the powerline adapter is connected to the wall socket. These devices may generate electromagnetic interference when running.
2. Try to plug the powerline adapter into other wall sockets (different circuits in the same room or different floors) to see if the problem is solved.
3. Add Teams/Zoom to the highest priority in the QoS settings of the router.
4. In the network settings of the router or laptop, change the DNS to 8.8.8.8 (Google) or 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare) to avoid DNS resolution delays.

Yesterday

  @Joseph-TP

Thanks for the reply

i did try a reset and when that failed, I tried setting QoS to Audio/video.

When that failed, I returned them to Amazon. A google suggested the issues with Teams and Zoom afflicts other TP products, some which have had the problem for a few years.

So best I got a refund.

Since messing with WiFi channels and bandwidth, I seem to have improved the WiFi quality upstairs.  From a YouTube, I angled 2 of the 6 antennas, so the sides were directed upstarirs.  Unsure if that helped or not.
