Feature Request

Would there be a possibility to implement a DDM/DOM function in the Archers BE800 routers software for the connected SFP(+) module?

Problem
At to moment we can't barely see any information regarding an connected SFP(+) module, the only thing which the router is showing is the blue symbol with beneath it its speed and duplex and that's it. So it's almost impossible to troubleshoot when there are connection problems, hardware problems etc. due the lack of (diagnostic) information. For the average user, to check the below parameters in case of (hardware)problems via SSH is way to complicated.

Solution

With the implementation of a DDM/DOM technology (crucial) parameters can be showen and troubleshooting (with for example an ISP) when there are any kind of connection problems would be way easier when these parameters/values/information are/is shown.

In case of DDM (Digital Diagnostics Monitoring), it would make it possible to monitor real-time parameters like; optical output power, optical input power, temperature, laser bias current, and transceiver supply voltage etc.

In case of DOM (Digital Optical Monitoring), it is also a technology which allows you to monitor important parameters of the transceiver module in real-time. You can use DOM to monitor the TX (transmit) and RX (receive) ports of the module, as well as input/output power, temperature, and voltage.

Additional Information

Typically, DDM and DOM are similar to each other. They are usually used together to describe the real-time monitoring function of SFP(+) transceivers. With these technologies predicting module lifespan, locating of fault position and verifying of module compatibility would also be possible. At the moment there are more and more fiber setups, ISP's which supply much often fiber setups etc.. With this in mind this function would (in my opinion) be a welcome addition to this allready powerful- and feature full router.

Thank you very much for your valuable suggestion regarding the SFP+ port on our Wi-Fi 7 routers.

DDM/DOM can monitor parameters like temperature, transmit/receive power, or voltage, which can enhance network monitoring. However, I assume they may not help with determining compatibility issues.

While I see this as a nice-to-have feature rather than a necessity, I will forward your suggestion to the relevant department for further consideration.

Thanks again for your input!
