Ethernet Speed changing intermittently from Green to Red

I recently bought the above powerline kit and got both units paired ok. IT works fine but from time to time the speed indicator turns from green to red which becomes an issue when watching HD streamed from my NAs and other streaming services through the internet. My broadband speed is 17 down 2 up so that isnt the issue.
Its not running through a power extension either.
Is there anything I am doing which could affect the drop in speed ?
