Model: Deco X50
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 2.03

I have just had fibre installed and was sent 2 Deco X50 units by the ISP. One of the units is acting as a router and the other is acting as a mesh unit in the bedroom. The wifi drop off to the PC is pretty dramatic, 300mbps down to 120mbps down

Just wondering if introducing a tp-link router to the system, and using the X50 (that is acting as a router) as a mesh unit would help?

Not sure is this is possible, and/or which routers would be compatible. Or also if it would be able to be set up through the Deco app or if that would ruin the mesh system?

Any help appreciated, thank you

Hi,

Just wondering if introducing a tp-link router to the system, and using the X50 (that is acting as a router) as a mesh unit would help?

-Supposing we are using Archer AX75, did you wish both 2*Deco X50 wirelessly connect to AX75?

If that was the plan, Deco doesn't support such a configuration with Archer products and the extra unit needs to be one more Deco product, the same model X50 or a higher model, like Deco X90/X60.

Can different Deco models work together?

Another issue would be "The wifi drop off to the PC is pretty dramatic, 300mbps down to 120mbps down".

Have you checked whether the speed decline was caused by the wifi coverage or something else? If it was due to a weaker WiFi signal, adding one more Deco unit might help. If something else, adding one mode device might not be the final solution.

Thank you very much and best regards.
