Model: Archer TX20UH
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 5001.19.113.2

Hello,

I am having issues with my TX20UH USB adapter experiencing ping spikes. They almost always last 2-3 seconds before returning to normal. They often occur in 5 minute intervals, but not always. Sometimes I will see spikes at 4:01pm, 4:06, 4:11, 4:36, 4:56, etc. It doesnt always follow this pattern but generally does does.

I have tried:

-Uninstalling/Reinstalling drivers several times

-Using an older driver

-Restarting modem a dozen times

-Reinstalling windows

-Every USB port

-Adjusting the settings through device manager from USB 2.0 to 3.0 and vice versa(depending on what USB port I am attempting)

-Disabling USB SF Mode

-Disabling SupportFT 11kv

-Disabling 5g

-Disabling 2.4g

-Disabling Roaming Sensitivity

-Disabling Adaptivity

-Reinstalling chipset drivers

At this point I am pulling my hair out and running out of ideas outside of just buying a different adapter, however if I have the same issues with that I might just lose it.

Hi, welcome to our community.

For the unstable connection problem, you may refer to Case2 in the guide to troubleshoot:

What should I do if the TP-Link network adapter is not working properly in my computer?

Thank you and best regards.

Hi Marvin,

Thanks for the response. I've tried most of the things in the troubleshoot without success. The issue occurs when connected with 5g, I cannot to my router when using 2.4g. I am not sure if the router doesn't support it, and I could try troubleshooting this but if the adapter will only work in 2.4g I'll need to replace it either way so it's not really a solution.

One thing I discovered is that by disabling WLAN autoconfig by using the command: netsh wlan set autoconfig enabled=no interface="Wi-Fi" - instead of disconnecting every 5 minutes, it disconnects every ~61 minutes. Below is a log of me pinging google, as you can see the disconnects occur at 2:02, 3:03, 4:04, etc. There's a couple others in there but those arent typical and that may have been me changing an adapter setting or something, I dont remember. I've just started a log pinging direct to my router rather than google, but I am fairly confident the results will be the same. Aside from those hourly spikes the ping is consistently between 2 and 20.

It seems that the 5 minute disconnects were caused by the adapter checking for other networks(even though it shouldnt be), but I cant figure out what would cause it to do this every 60 minutes with autoconfig disabled.

Either way that is also not a great solution as it means every time I boot up I need to enable autoconfig, connect to the network, then disable it again through command prompt which is kind of a hassle.
