I hope this is a quick and easy question for somebody.

I am about to purchase a UB500 with the intention of using it to RECEIVE audio from a streaming device on a WINDOWS 7/10/11 PC.

I have read all about SENDING from a UB500 to headphones, etc, but not RECEIVING. I am well used to dealing with hardware and audio equipment.

What I want to happen is to pair the external device to the UB500 and have appear on Windows an audio device that I can select in software (Audacity / Audition / Cubase / OBS Studio, etc).

 

Is this possible with that device? Many thanks for any tips.

Hi,

 

What you are looking for (Bluetooth adapter showing up as an audio device) doesn't appear to be possible in Windows. However, this is a limitation of Windows, not the UB500.

 

There is a free software called "Bluetooth Audio Receiver" available on the Microsoft Store that can be used to "receive" audio from another device via Bluetooth and play it back through the Windows PC. That app will show you that the UB500 can indeed "receive" audio.
But this software doesn't create an audio recording device (or input device) within Windows and thus doesn't allow the audio to be recorded by most audio software. 

 

OBS Studio on the other hand is able to capture "Desktop Audio", which should work in combination with the Bluetooth Audio Receiver app.
