Model: Archer AX3000
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I just discovered a major flaw on my AX3000 which is possibly an issue also on other models.

I have a main router AX3000, with a 2nd router acting as an AP (different brand), all in the same network.

My PC is connected to this AP router via LAN. Everything has been working fine and from my PC I could access both web interfaces, the main one at 192.168.0.1 and the AP interface at 192.168.0.xx

I decided to upgrade my AP router to the a TPLink AX3000 as well. This is when the issue kicked in, as while everything works, due to the way the TPLink interface is managed, I can only access the web interface of the AP router from my PC, and I have to connect the PC directly to the main router to access the web interface of the main router (which is not physically possible as I would have to move my PC a couple of floors).

So essentially TPLink routers do not work well together - they are incompatible once you have more than one in your network as the one you are connected to stops you from accessing others in the same network and therefore you will be unable to manage them.

This is a big flaw which must be addressed.

Yea that seems a bit off to me,

The way I look at it is yes the different AP point has it's own IP address but as it has its own web gui page you can log into your should be able to log into it like say a NAS or  N-AVR no matter where you are connected on your network.

Maybe it was lost in translation along the line from support.  🤷🏼‍♂️

Glad what i said has proved it does work and you can now narrow down somewhat to a area to start looking to hopefully get it sorted 👍🏻

Hi,

What exactly happens when you are connected to the AP router and browse to http://192.168.0.1 ?

Does it just show "Can't reach this page"?

The page gets redirected to: https://192.168.0.1/webpages/login.html And the page content is: This site can’t be reached The connection was reset. Try: Checking the connection Checking the proxy and the firewall Running Windows Network Diagnostics ERR_CONNECTION_RESET

Hi,

I've not experienced this in my setup,

I have 3x Ax72 routers, 2x in AP mode and 1 main and no matter what AP unit I'm attached to i can access any of my units according to their IP address using mobiles, laptops ect whether they are hard wired or via wifi.

What i have noticed is that if I'm connected to any of the AP and I refresh my Web page ( tplinkwifi.net) it automatically sends me to the AP web page I'm attached to, so if I want to connect to say my mancave AP Web page I have to input that AP ip address and then input the log in details and then away i go

You are right. I tried again from a different PC and it works, so it's something related to that specific PC's configuration. The thing is that I contacted support about this issue and they said it is not possible to access a router beyond the immediate AP the PC is connected to, which in my view would be a major flaw - hence the title. However it now seems that it was just badly handled support and the issue was specific to my PC.
