Model: Archer T4U Plus
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

Archer T4U Plus V2 keeps disconnecting from the network, both at 5 and 2.4ghz. This occurs so often that it is unusable.

I tried two drivers, Windows 11 installs: Realtek Semiconductor Corp. 08.10.2024  1030.44.1001.2024. Same problem with a driver from the TP-Link website
TP-Link Corporation Limited.

1030.44.531.2021

any workarounds, or should I just by from a different manufacturer?

Hi,

Does the T4U Plus disconnect silently or can you hear the sound that Windows makes whenever an USB device is plugged in or removed?

Anyway, if you decided to return the T4U Plus and get another one instead, then make sure the new one uses a different Wi-Fi chip. If you were to buy another USB Wi-Fi adapter that uses the same Realtek chip as the one built into the T4U Plus, then you would most likely face the same issues.

@woozle Yes, the Windows USB plug in/out sound is there, so it looks like the device stops working and then reboots.

Thanks!

You are not alone with this problem. Somehow these Realtek USB Wi-Fi adapters don't work well in combination with certain computers, while on other computers they work perfectly fine.

Some users in this forum appeared to achieve some success after trying different drivers or plugging into different USB ports, but I am not aware of a universal fix for this problem.

I suggest you test whether the T4U Plus works stable when plugged into an USB 2.0 port instead of an USB 3.x port, as this often helps. The downside would be that the maximum data throughput you can achieve is limited to around 270 Mbps.

In case your computer has USB 3.x ports all around, then you would need to plug an USB 2.0 exension cable in between.
