Disney+ not working when connected through Archer C7
HI all,
I have a weird problem that popped up during the last days without any visible change that was done on my side...
I am using a tp-link Archer C7 in my home network to provide WLAN access to the internet through my entire house. The Archer is connected by LAN-cable to a Vodafone-Box that provides the Internet Access. The Archer is running in Router Mode. This setup is running for some years already and was always quite stable and had no issues. Good enough to provide Internet for home-office, video streaming and other stuff.
Now, since the very first days in 2025, I can no longer access Disney+ Video Streaming in that way. It is neither working on any TV (Fire-TV Stick), Laptop, Phone, Tablet as long as this device is connected to the WLAN provided by the Archer. Not even the Disney+ starting page is displayed, neither is the login screen when using a laptop (which means that the problem is not related to my Disney+ account). Other video streaming services like Netflix do not have any issue.
As soon as I connect one of the devices to a WLAN that is provided by the Vodafone-Box, everything is working smoothly. But I cannot use that WLAN in the entire house for various reasons. But it means that also my ISP is not causing the problem.
The problem seems to be limited to the tp-link Archer C7, as it only pops up when being connected to this device. I already did a firmware upgrade to the latest available release, without any success.
In the relevant timeframe
- no visible firmware or configuration change was done on the Vodafone-Box
- no upgrade on any Disney+ App happened
I could imagine these reasons for my problem:
- The tp-link Archer is blocking something, which is not visible
- Disney+ notices, in which way ever, that my devices are not directly connected to my ISP's device. Although all devices are sharing the same public IP-address
Did anybody have similar issues, maybe also with other types of routers, and has a solution at hand? I expect Disney+ to give s#+t on my problem, as my account is working perfectly well on other devices...
