Model: Archer BE550 Pro
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.1 Build 20241115 rel.24012(5553)

I have  plugged a USB drive into the TP-link router to used used as shared media in my local network.

I managed to shared it as secure sharing using the "read/write permission" username and password as :

   a) SMB;

   b) Local FTP;

   c) enable "Media Sharing" as well.

I can access and browse all the files and folders using Windows File Explorer as well as Android File explorer as either FTP or SMB.

However, when i use Windows Media Player on Windows PC or using any music player app on android such as the Fiio Music app or Eddict Music app, i can only browse "Flac files". I cannot see "DSD type of files" (ie those with file extension *.DFF, *.DSF, *.iso).

Can TP-link support help to explain how to enable these DSD files (ie those with file extension *.DFF, *.DSF, *.iso) to be seen and played by Windows Media Player or android music app?

Is it that TP-link need to update the router firmware to include these media types as eligible to be played with TP-link media sharing?

Best Regards,

Wil-M

Hi,

The types of files supported by the DLNA media server cannot be changed by the user. It would definitely require a modification within the firmware.

Regarding supported file types I was only able to find one very old article that is most likely outdated. https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/506/
Perhaps TP-Link could write an updated article for current Archer router models.

Hi woozle,

Thanks for sharing the info. Indeed it looks like TP-link have not update the supported media file types for very2 long time.

Not sure how to get TP-link to update their firmware...
