nBn compatible - Modem Router

Thursday

I am moving into a single bedroom apartment (approx. 50m2 in size) and have been looking at modem / router combos. The new apartment has Australian nbn Fibre to the Building (FTTB) and then copper to the apartment.

The previous house I lived in was much bigger and I used an ISP provided modem-router with Deco M9+ running as a mesh off the ISP modem / router. So I still have the two M9+. I got these because there were multiple people working from home in the old house and so we could use the tri-channel functionality to reduce congestion.

I only use the internet for streaming, working from home and browsing the internet so am thinking either a 25/10 or 50/10 nbn plan.

The ISP I am going with offer a tp-link vx230v modem for $165AUD.

What I want is two things:

1) Purchase a modem / router that functions as well or better than the tp-link vx230v.

2) Purchase a modem / router that I could use in the future at another house with the Deco M9+ in a mesh setup.

3) Purchase a mode/ router that will be able to handle higher speeds in the future.

My budget is around $200-300AUD so not sure if I should just stick with the tp-link vx230v.

The TP Link Archer VR2800 AC2800 I can find for $230 and seems to meet my needs but it appears to be quite old.

Is there an updated version or another modem / router that would meet my needs?

Any information or advice appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Hi, welcome to our community.

VX230v is a customized model by some ISPs only.

As only Deco can set up Deco mesh network with other Deco models, it is more suggested to get another Deco model to work with your Deco M9 Plus, if necessary.

So you may consider Deco X73-DSL, Deco X50-DSL, or Deco X20-DSL

For your reference:
Can different Deco models work together?

Can Deco Mesh, OneMesh, EasyMesh and Omada Mesh products work together?

  @Marvin_S

Thanks a lot for your response - I will read the links you provided.

I purchased a TP-Link Deco X73-DSL AX5400 as it was on special and seems like it should provide me with a good piece of equipment long term.

Thanks again for your help
