Archer AX23 - Weird Game Streaming Problem with Android Devices
Hey folks. I am having a weird problem streaming games with the Archer AX23. I will try to explain it as clear as possible.
I have two Android devices: the Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2" tablet, and the Ayaneo Pocket Evo handheld.
I stream games from the PS5 using an app called PXPlay (even using the official PS Remote Play app produces the same result).
The PS5 is on Ethernet, and the devices are using 5Ghz WiFi.
Whenever I stream from the PS5, the video experience is choppy and laggy and regularly drops packets and frames. But everything else works fine, including Youtube, downloads, websites, etc. Even streaming PC games from Moonlight + Sunshine from a Windows 11 Desktop (on Ethernet as well), works just fine.
I also have a Stream Deck OLED which I also use to stream PS5 games using an app called Chiaki and its smooth as butter.
But here's the weird part: If I stream the PS5 from any of the Android devices first, and then immediately switch to the Steam Deck, the stream is extremely choppy with tons of packet loss. However, if I restart the PS5 and only use the Steam Deck to stream, the stream is smooth.
But here's another weird part: If either of the Android devices are turned on, the stream on the Steam Deck gets choppy almost immediately. If I turn off those devices, the problem is gone. Even if I keep those android devices on airplane mode, it doesn't help. I have to turn them off. I have tried this multiple times and it always works, and its quite baffling as I have never encountered such a problem before.
The PS5 itself has no problem connecting to the internet or playing multiplayer games (pings are stable) whether these devices are turned off or on.
I did not have such a problem with my previous Linksys WiFi 5 router, and in fact, used the Huawei tablet A LOT to stream games from the PC and PS5 without any issues. This problem has only cropped up when I got the Archer AX23.
It's such a weird issue and I have no clue what to do. I have tried different channel widths and frequencies to no avail. I have tried 2.4Ghz, as well, but no luck. The Smart Connect feature on the router is turned off, too, where there is a separate SSID for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. The router is on the latest firmware.
If anyone can help me solve this problem, I would appreciate it a lot.
