Hi there,

Recently got a new deco x50-5g router as out landline sucks, this is already faster which is great!

however, when I tried to connect the x50-5g via ethernet to my switch (which has my NAS), there doesn't seem to be internet don't he NAS...

i normally connect my landline modem to the switch port 1 and it works fine (NAS is in port 2). but when I connected the x50-5g to port 1, the NAS goes offline...

my switch is a netgear gs308e

is the ethernet ports on x50-5g actually able to connect to a switch and deliver signal to the NAS so it is online? or do I need something else/settings?

thanks!

Hi, welcome to the community.

Was the NAS configured with any static IP settings?

The Ethernet port on x50-5g can be able to connect to a switch, and then other wired devices.

Wait for your reply and best regards.

Hi, Thanks for the message, and sorry for the delay.

It would be better to use DHCP on the NAS.

If the NAS has to be static, please go to Deco APP>More>Advanced>LAN IP and make sure they are under the same IP segments.

For example, if NAS is set as 192.168.7.253, the LAN IP also needs to be 192.168.7.1/255.255.255.0.

Best regards.

@David-TP Thanks for the tip David.

I need static IP on the NAS so I can do port forwarding.

My NAS IP is 192.168.1.x so I have changed the Deco 5g router to 192.168.1.xxx - x being a random number.

However, when I switch from my home router to the Deco 5g, the NAS disappears again, and become unconnectable - any other ideas please?

Best,

Arnold

Hi, You could test whether the following suggestion helps:

1. Set the Deco LAN IP to 192.168.1.1/255.255.255.0

2. For the static IP address on the NAS, confirm the IP address/subnet mask/gateway all filled-in, such as 192.168.1.253/255.255.255.0, 192.168.1.1.

3. Go to Deco APP>More>Advanced>DHCP server and make sure the IP address pool includes the IP of NAS, such as 192.168.1.100-192.168.1.254.

4. Restart the NAS and Deco X50-5G once and check whether the NAS can access the internet and show up in the "Online Lists".

Thank you very much and best regards.
