Hi.  My garage circuit is completely separate to the house and is 50 metres away from the house.  I have AV1000 extenders with one attached to router in the house via ethernet and the other plugged into the garage circuit.  The wifi delivered worked most of the time and my car charger, solars, inverter and battery all connected to it.  I now want a more reliable connection so will the following work better?

I want to avoid drilling holes in the house walls to feed ethernet cable so I will put the AV1000 in an exterior socket in my porch so it connects to the router via wifi.  This I have tested and it pickes up the wifi nice and strongly as it is about 2 feet from the router albeit on the other side of an exterior wall.  I will then run 60 metres of CAT6 ethernet cable to the garage from the AV1000 in the veranda.  I would then purchase another AV1000 to attach to the ethernet cable in the garage to give more stable wifi.

Do you think this will work?

Hi,welcome to our community.

May I confirm that you want to move the current AV1000 to your veranda(about 2 feet from the router albeit on the other side of an exterior wall), and purchase another AV1000 to put into your garage?

And your current AV1000 is a powerline kit, right? You may share the exact model on their back label, referring to the official website.

If so, as there is a powerline adapter that is connected to your router already, you can pair a new powerline extender directly with the powerline adapter and relocate it in your garage. It is not necessary to connect the new powerline extender to your original powerline extender(AV1000) via an Ethernet cable. But all the powerline units needs to work under the same power circuit and the power breakers may influence the performance.(The actual powerline length can not exceed 300 meters.)

Thanks for your help Marvin.  My issue is that the power supply to the garage area is different to that to the main house.  Maybe the following would do it.

Current powerline adapter remains attached to house router via ethernet

Powerline extender put in veranda using same power circuit as the router and adapter

Ethernet cable runs from powerline extender in veranda up to the garage

Ethernet cable connected to wireless access point in garage (e.g. TP-Link N300 or AC1350)

All items requiring internet access in garage (car charger, inverter, battery, PVs etc.) will have wifi access to the access point

Would you agree?

Hi, thanks for your further sharing~

I am afraid 60-meter Ethernet cable is too long to connect powerline extender in your veranda to the AP in your garage, which will greatly influence the performance of AP.
