5G not stable and impacting wifi network and restarts

I'm also having severe WiFi issues with my Archer NX200.

When connected via an Ethernet connection there are no issues.

When connected via WiFi devices will drop Internet connection a few times every minute. I have tried so many different settings. I've completely disabled Band Steering, I've disabled the 5GHz network.

I've tried setting channels and the channel width but nothing helps. The client will lose connection to the Internet for a few seconds and then it'll come back up.

Below are my settings:

Here's an example of the packet loss:

When plugged in via a cable there is no packet loss. I've also tried setting up an old Asus router to act as an Access Point and this also resolves the issue - so it's the WiFi of the Archer that's the problem. I'm on the latest firmware:

Firmware Version:1.4.0 3.0.0 v60a2.0 Build 240814 Rel.58842n Hardware Version:Archer NX200 v1.0 00000000

I use seperate mesh-setup for wifi.
The device do have issue with 5G/4G/3G mode, support ticket opened for 5G network.

I switched to 4G/3G mode and device is stable.

You're right, it seems to be more stable in 4G/3G mode:

(note I don't expect every ping to succeed when going out externally but if several drop in a row (like my previous post) then there's a problem.

I tried the 4G only mode and it was unstable similar to the 5G/4G/3G mode where pings would fail successively when on WiFi

Edit: By the way I've ordered the TP-Link Deco 'version' of this router to see if it behaves any better. I understand it's a more basic version of the Archer but I would rather have less features than a flaky WiFi network

I doubt issue with WIFI.

The modem disconnects frequently from cell tower.

Firmware 1.4.x
LTE: Exception:SendAtCommand fail

5-20seconds internet disconnected

Some Firmware
LTE: Exception:GetMobileStatus fail
5-20seconds internet disconnected

In 4G/3G mode there is no disconnects but I do observe frequent.

2025-01-03 11:52:10 [5] LTE: Network type is LTE PLUS.

2025-01-03 11:52:20 [5] LTE: Network type is LTE.

2025-01-03 11:52:30 [5] LTE: Network type is LTE PLUS.

10 second delay between messages is consistent across days.

Interesting because although I've got those similar messages in my log I have not had any for nearly 2 days (unless the logs have stopped working perhaps):

ID Time Type Level Log Content
1 2025-01-04 11:58:32 LTE Notice Network type is LTE PLUS.
2 2025-01-04 11:58:30 LTE Notice Network type is LTE.
3 2025-01-04 11:33:12 LTE Notice Network type is NR.
4 2025-01-04 11:21:46 LTE Notice Network type is LTE PLUS.
5 2025-01-04 11:21:44 LTE Notice Connected to the network!
6 2025-01-04 11:21:42 LTE Notice Fail to connect to the network, start autoconnect!
7 2025-01-04 11:21:36 LTE Notice The network disconnected, start autoconnect!
8 2025-01-04 11:21:35 LTE Notice Network type is LTE.

However, I'm still getting lost pings (in 4G/3G mode) - even to the router itself which is a BIG problem in my opinion:

What other tests did you do? I'm happy to try/compare.

I notice disturbance on 5G/4G/3G radio and has been chasing only this part as I need un-intrupted network for live online class.

I adjusted my mesh to run in AP mode with ethernet cable and havent see any network outages. I do got new message as the device got rebooted on its own.

Just to let you know my TP-Link Decor X50-5G arrived today and I've set it up and it works an absolute dream (so far). I've had no random disconnections, no reboots and more importantly, not pings lost!

pinginfoview

Whilst I know it may not be possible for either of you, I will be sending my Archer X200 back and getting a refund. It is completely unusable in its current state. The Decor X50-5G however is the complete opposite. The only issue I've had is I can't yet connect my external antenna because it uses RP-SMA-F connectors which are different to the Archer X200. I've ordered adaptors and will do more tests with it tomorrow.

In terms of features in comparison to the Archer , I can't find anything yet (parental-control wise) that I couldn't do before - and in fact - the blocking of websites now actually works (unlike on the Archer).

Yes there are some features behind a pay wall but for me personally I don't need any of them. I've included screenshots below:

Any questions about the Deco you have let me know.

Congratulations.

I am aware Qualcomm chipsets are better and stable. Had been using android phone (tethering) with same chipset for 2 years, only issue it was not doing CA and my new location required change in device.

Hoped Mediatek T750 would give better throughput, will fall back to android if no resolutions.

I hadn't even thought about it being a chipset issue but that would make sense. You'd have hoped that they might have done some testing before releasing it to public though...

Just an update for anone interested my Deco X50-5G is still performing perfectly:

I would suggest those reading this thread who can; get a refund on the Archer X200 and go for the Deco version instead. Who knows how long people will be waiting for the firmware to get fixed (if it even can be fixed).

I'm lucky mine was still within the Amazon return window. The Deco is (currently) slightly more expensive but the experience has been a world of difference.
