Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.4.5

Hi all,

I recently purchased a Deco S7 mesh system and I already have a TP-Link Archer AX1800 Wi-Fi 6 router set up as my main router. I’m wondering if it’s possible to integrate the Deco S7 units with the AX1800 in a mesh setup.

Specifically, I’d like to know:

  • Can the Deco S7 act as satellite units to extend the Wi-Fi coverage from my AX1800 router?
  • Will they all work together seamlessly in one mesh network, even though the AX1800 supports Wi-Fi 6 and Deco S7 is Wi-Fi 5?
  • Are there any specific settings I need to configure to ensure compatibility?

Any advice or steps on how to achieve this would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

Deco S7 can be connect to the AX1800 to extend the network. To avoid double NAT issue, you can set it as AP mode.

But it cannot build Mesh network with Archer AX1800 router.

You can refer to this thread to know more information.

@Sunshine Your link doesn't work, can you check it again?

Which would be in AP-mode, Deco or AX1800?

Why cant it build a Mesh network together, it says on the homepage :

AX1800 Dual-Band Wi-Fi 6 Router

  • OneMesh – Use with OneMesh extenders to get whole-home coverage and enjoy smooth roaming between signals.

For me it sounds like they should be compatible with each other, but maybe I'm wrong, is it different kind of Mesh-systems...?

Now I connected the Deco S7 on lan4 on the AX1800 som I can get Mesh in the house, but I feel that Deco and AX1800 should find each other so I don't need to have a wire on one off the Deco's....

Hi,

This is the link: https://www.tp-link.com/en/blog/1296/

If it still cannot work, you can just search the title. TP-Link Deco Mesh vs EasyMesh vs OneMesh vs Omada Mesh What's the Difference?

Deco devices are using Deco Mesh. They are using different Mesh technology. Therefore it cannot build a Mesh system with OneMesh routers.
