Model: Deco X55
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

Hello, I run a small Internet service and more than 10 of my customers bought the Deco X55 routers based on my recommendation because they support NordVPN with the Wireguard protocol. After the latest updates the Wireguard option disappeared and only OpenVPN is available now, which is very slow to the point of unusable.

Is Wireguard coming back ? Why did this happen in the first place that you removed it?

  @mg24

Hi, welcome to the community.

It is recommended to check the current hardware version of the Deco X50.

How to find the hardware version on a TP-Link device

For now, only V1 with 1.5.0 and above(the latest version is 1.5.5) supports Wireguard VPN.

Neither V1.2 nor V1.3 has added this feature yet and it is planned to be added via firmware upgrade later.

Thank you very much and best regards.

  @David-TP Thanks for clarifying. Do you have a timeline for the updates?

 I really do wish TP-Link would hurry up with the distribution of Wireguard for the Deco X50(US) ver 1.20, most particularly for Surfshark users......  OpenVPN is just too slow..........  @mg24

And may I also suggest that in this router update, that it works closely with Surfshark to be able to add the following configurations/options:
1.  Similar options to what exists for Chrome Browsers, where appropriate.

2.  An option to allow VPN Client to work for ALL devices, EXCEPT those excluded.  This will prevent those customers with many devices from having to manually select every single device except the ones they don't want the VPN to use

3.  The ability to tell the Deco to change to a different location in a list, rather than having to set up a separate VPN for each Surfshark location.
