firmware upgrade
Hi tried to use tether to update my firmware I manage to find my extender go to tools/ system but don't have the option to update firmware just a box to reset password

If for some reason the "Firmware Update" option is not shown in the Tether app for your particular range extender model, then perform the firmware update via a web browser.
To do that go to the "Home" menu of the TL-WA854RE in the Tether app, tap the pictogram that resembles your TL-WA854RE and get the current IP address of your TL-WA854RE from the screen that opens. Then open a web browser on your phone and then enter that IP address in the address bar of the browser. The login screen of the TL-WA854RE should be loaded and after you've logged in navigate to the Firmware Upgrade menu.
